PB Range Plummer Block Housings

The PB Range Plummer Block Housings are high-performance, self-aligning bearing units designed for applications where reliability, low maintenance, and long service life are essential. Manufactured with robust grey cast iron housings and pre-mounted Glacier DU® or DX® steel-backed plain bearings, these solid plummer block bearing housings eliminate the complexity associated with conventional bearing installations while delivering exceptional performance in demanding industrial environments.

Unlike traditional rolling element bearing units, PB range bearing housings feature captive self-aligning inner members that can accommodate shaft misalignment of up to 15°, significantly reducing installation time and preventing edge loading. This self-aligning capability removes the need for highly precise shaft positioning, making them an ideal choice for machinery operating under variable loading conditions or where alignment is difficult to achieve.

Available in both metric and imperial sizes for shaft diameters ranging from 10 mm to 100 mm and ½” to 4″, the PB series offers a versatile solution for a wide variety of industrial applications. Standard units are supplied from stock, enabling faster project completion and reduced downtime.

The bearings can be specified with either DU or DX bearing materials depending on the application’s operating conditions. DU bearings are designed for dry-running applications where lubrication is impractical, offering reliable performance across temperatures from -200°C to +280°C. DX bearings are intended for grease-lubricated applications and provide excellent wear resistance up to 120°C, with periodic re-greasing extending service life even further.

The PB range also offers economical ownership by eliminating press-fitting during assembly, reducing maintenance requirements, and minimising operating costs. Where axial shaft location is required, standard shaft collars or shoulders can be incorporated, while Glacier thrust washers can be supplied for applications experiencing moderate thrust loads.

In addition to the standard plummer block (pillow block) configuration, the range also includes two-bolt and four-bolt flange bearing housings, with custom-engineered specials available for unique operating requirements.
