FL Range 4 Bolt Flange Housings

The FL Range 4 Bolt Flange Bearing Housings are heavy-duty, self-aligning bearing units designed to provide secure shaft support in industrial applications where high stability and rigid flange mounting are essential. Each FL Range housing features captive self-aligning bearing inserts that accommodate shaft misalignment of up to 15°, eliminating the need for precise shaft alignment during installation. This self-aligning capability prevents edge loading, ensuring the full performance potential of Glacier DU and DX bearing materials is utilised while reducing premature wear and extending component life.

The robust four-bolt mounting arrangement provides greater rigidity and load distribution than two-bolt alternatives, making the FL Range particularly suitable for heavy-duty machinery, high-load applications, and equipment exposed to vibration or continuous operation. Installation is quick and straightforward, as the bearing clearance on the shaft removes the need for press-fitting, reducing assembly time and simplifying maintenance.

The FL Series is available in both metric and imperial sizes, covering shaft diameters from 10 mm to 100 mm and ½” to 4″, with standard sizes available from stock for rapid delivery. Standard housings are manufactured from grey cast iron, while alternative materials and bespoke housing configurations can be supplied for specialised environments or demanding applications.

Depending on operational requirements, customers can choose between DU and DX bearing materials. DU bearings are designed for dry-running applications where lubrication is impractical, offering reliable performance across temperatures from -200°C to +280°C. DX bearings are intended for grease-lubricated applications and provide exceptional wear resistance up to 120°C, with periodic re-greasing extending service life significantly.

Where axial shaft positioning is required, standard shaft collars or shoulders can be incorporated, while Glacier thrust washers are available for applications involving moderate thrust loads. Alongside standard FL Range products, custom-engineered self-aligning bearing housings can also be manufactured to meet unique design specifications.
