The Modern Steel Plummer Block range is available in sizes from SSNT509 to SSNT532, covering shaft diameters from 40 mm to 160 mm, along with 200, 300, and 600 series housings. Manufactured under a BSI-approved quality management system using advanced CNC machining and precision coordinate measuring inspection, every housing is produced to exacting standards to ensure consistent quality and dimensional accuracy.

Designed as a direct replacement for popular cast iron SN, SNE, SNV, SNA, and SNH housings, the SSNT Steel Housings are ideal for applications where standard bearing housings have failed due to excessive loads, shock, vibration, or demanding operating conditions. Their solid-base construction allows for either two-bolt or four-bolt mounting configurations, while the housing is designed to accommodate standard self-aligning ball bearing housings and spherical roller steel housing assemblies. Bearings can be mounted directly onto precision-machined shafts or installed using an adapter sleeve steel housing arrangement for greater flexibility.

To meet specific customer requirements, Bowman maintains stocks of part-finished housings that can be customised with special boundary dimensions, modified end bores, square-machined bases, or bespoke lubrication systems. A wide range of sealing options—including felt, lip, labyrinth, and V-ring seals—is also available to suit different operating environments. Closed end covers and grease nipples are supplied where required to maximise bearing protection and simplify maintenance.

Should the housing fail before the bearing insert under normal operating conditions (subject to applicable cap bolt loading requirements), Bowman will replace the housing free of charge and supply a replacement rolling element bearing.
